Summer 1
This term we will explore the beauty and richness of different cultures through the lenses of morality, empathy, diversity, and creative design. Pupils investigate where our ideas of right and wrong come from, how cultural differences shape our identities, and why empathy and respect are essential for living well together. Alongside this, they develop practical design and technology skills by creating a culturally inspired product, using research, prototyping, and evaluation to guide their decisions.
The unit encourages pupils to appreciate the diversity within their community and the wider world, challenge stereotypes, behave responsibly online, and understand how individual and collective choices have global impact. It culminates in a celebration of cultural beauty through food, design, and shared learning.
We will begin this unit by spending a week off timetable, as discussed in parent's evening, focussing on how we treat each other and showing kindness and empathy both face-to-face and online alike.
