Spring
Over the next half term we will be learning about our own locality, as we explore the different places in our area that are important to us. At the end of our project we will be able to identify natural features in our environment, understand the importance of our community, talk about some historical features of our landscapes and recognise the need for safety in different places we may visit.
By the end of this project, the children have decided that they must be able to:
- say their full address including house name or number, street name, city and country
We have used our floorbook to make Gwdihw's community. Can you spot your house on our map? Which way do you need to go to visit your friend?
We have been looking at different maps and finding out how they can help us. Each of us have drawn a map showing the way from our homes to school. We thought about the different directions we made and the features of our environment that we passed on our journey to school.
The best part of our week was going on a walk in our local community. Some of us saw our own houses! We spotted detached houses, semi-detached houses, bungalows and even a motorhome. On our walk we learnt about a big mansion that used to be on our estate many years ago. We will be learning more about Glyncollen house next week.

In our outdoor area this week, Ellis suggested that we build different forms of transport to help us move around our community and the big wide world. Take a look at this fantastic aeroplane that the children built independently. They used communication skills, negotiation skills, phsyical skills and creative skills to make a wonderful construction. Da iawn pawb!
