Summer 1
Summer term 1
Croeso pawb!
The summer term has started off with some beautiful sunshine - hooray! To ensure your little Draenog stays safe in the sun, please apply suncream before the start of the school day and provide a sun hat and water bottle. Diolch.
This summer term we have continued our topic 'growing' as we have developed our outdoor area. We would like to thank you all for your kind donations of plants, flowers, seeds, soil and resources which have helped us transform our outdoor space. The children have had an authentic experience of learning to garden with Miss Evans and have explored lots of new plants and skills. We would also like to thanks FROGS for volunteering to help us, we appreciate all of your hard work. We look forward to seeing our garden 'bloom' over the next few weeks.
Our learning was then inspired by the beauty of the sea as we read the story 'The Snail and the Whale'. This story hooked lots of our Draenogs and is now a firm favourite in the reading corner. This lead our learning to writing letters, acting out the story, and learning about snails.
As always, we have been developing our 'daily do's, such as our 'book vote' and 'checking in' and finding opportunities to incorporate numeracy skills into our day. Miss Wade has been teaching us ball skills and games during P.E which will help us get ready for sports day next term. We have also welcomed more 'dinky' Draenog's to our class and we are so proud of how well they have settled into our Draenog family.
Welly Walk will continue on a Tuesday with Miss Evans, where the children have the whole morning exploring our wonderful outdoor space which Miss Evans has been developing with the help of the children.
We are continuing our phonological awareness journey. The dwti's are taking part in daily rhyme time and story time whilst the Reception are making progress in Read Write Inc. We look forward to continuing phonics next half term.
