Autumn 2
Gwiwer Class Topic Overview: Powering Wales
In Gwiwer Class, we are embarking on an exciting new journey with our topic Powering Wales. This term, we’ll be exploring the energy sources that power our daily lives here in Wales, focusing on the question, “What types of energy sources are used to power homes and businesses in Wales, and how do they work?”
Our learning will center around Science and Technology, where we’ll investigate the natural forces behind energy production. By examining renewable sources like wind and water power, we’ll learn how Wales harnesses these elements to provide clean and sustainable energy. Students will have hands-on experiences with experiments and models, helping them understand the mechanics behind these energy sources, and explore how these technologies are helping to protect our environment for the future.
As part of Health and Wellbeing, we’ll discuss how our energy choices impact both our planet and personal quality of life. We’ll think critically about how making responsible energy decisions can lead to healthier communities and a more sustainable future. Through Valuing Differences, we’ll look at the diverse opinions and strategies for energy use across Wales, learning to appreciate how communities work together and respect one another’s choices in preserving natural resources.
This term, Gwiwer Class will explore the incredible forces that shape Wales's energy landscape, from rural wind farms to powerful rivers, uncovering how these resources fuel our homes and protect our environment. Stay tuned to see how our exploration of Wales's natural resources helps us understand the power of energy!

This week, we were thrilled to take part in the Froggs Coffee Morning! In honor of Anti-Bullying Week and Odd Socks Day, the Froggs team put on a fantastic event where children brought in extra socks to transform into decorations for the tree at the local garden center. The class absolutely loved it, and it was a glitter-filled, creative experience! We can’t wait to see our decorated tree brighten up the community space.
