To start off our new and exciting topic, we began exploring the vocabulary and meanings of words. We looked at what a journey is, what an explorer does, what an expedition is, and what it means to navigate. Once we understood what these meant, we could then do some exploring.
The pupils safely used tools such as Kiddle and books to look for information on explorers and use that information to fill in an explorer's journal.
We began our exploration of Edgar Evans by reading a narrative about his life and locating his home village of Rhossili on a map. This activity helped develop our geographical skills and understanding of significant historical figures.
In Mathematics and Numeracy, we focused on identifying and understanding the properties of 2D shapes. We applied this knowledge by finding examples of these shapes in our everyday environment, enhancing our spatial awareness and real-world application of mathematical concepts.
