Week one of this term we started exploring our new topic and questioning what modes of transport there are and how we get around. We used ‘Kiddle’ to safely explore the topic and find information. This also opened up a lot of questions about transport, Such as ‘How do boats float?’ and ‘How do planes fly?’ We will be exploring these questions deeper of the coming weeks.
We used K’Nex to build a bridge and added weights to see how much the bridges could hold. It was lovely to see everyone sharing their ideas of how to build a strong bridge.
We also explored why the school charter is important and how we can aim for Gold on the new behaviour policy each and every day.

Over the next 5 weeks we are looking at how to play rounders.
For the first week back we looked some of the rules of the game and how to be safe while playing.
We also started to throw under-arm. We broke out into groups and threw and caught the ball. Everyone did amazing with this and listened well to instructions and feedback.

After the pupils mentioned looking at how boats float I decided that I would be a fun activity to build boats out of sticks. I gave the pupils a brief to collect sticks and said we were going to built boats out of them in teams. Pupils ran off to collect the sticks they would need and came back with a mixed array of sticks. We then went off to plan what they would need and how they were going to build their boats. Although there were conflicting views on their designs each team did well to build something that floated.

Week 2 of learning how to play rounders.
This week we had a recap of last weeks lesson with learning how to throw under-arm and how to safely catch the ball and everyone did really well remembering the feedback they received. We started looking at batting and where to stand to keep safe. We spoke about the shape and size of the bat and the key difference es between rounders and baseball. Everyone did really well again today with understanding the correct places to stand and how to aim the ball towards the bat.
I cant wait to have the children play a full game in the coming weeks.

This week we looked at our current train system in Wales. We concentrated on how we use a combination of electric and diesel trains. We used these facts to write interesting sentences with a variety of sentences openers.
In PE we learned more about the rules of rounders and this was a lovely session where we practiced the skills we had already developed while adding in some new skills. The class is loving rounders and are all very eager to play a full game.

It was Future week! This week our main focus was on comparing the trains in the UK to Japan and the Bullet train. The children loved to explore facts about the Bullet trains speed and how luxurious it is compared to the trains in Wales. We again looked at the facts and used these to develop interesting sentences. Our writing focus was making sure we use capital letters and full stops in the correct place and making sure finger spaces were used in our writing.
In PE we played our first game of rounders. This was a lovely lesson. Everyone loved playing and followed the rules correctly and listened to instructions. It was lovely to have everyone using the skills they have developed to play a game and to hear the other group cheering on their friends.
Da Iawn dosbarth cadno!
Outdoor learning this we we focused on Past tense verbs and the using these to write sentences when we got back to class. I explained that the class would need to think of 4 things of their walk. What they could hear 👂, see 👀, feel ✋ and smell 👃. They would then need to use these memories in class.
