Summer 1
Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for our physical needs being met, through having somewhere to live and enough food and drink to stay healthy.
Thank you for our feelings and emotions, and that we know when we feel happy or sad.
Thank you for our thoughts, and for the people who look after us and love us.
Please help us to know when we have hurt somebody and to be willing to say sorry to them.
Amen.
A wonderful visit to Clydach Community Garden 🌱🪴🍐🍏🥬🥕🌽🍓🌸🌻🌺

Outdoor Learning Story - King Charles
Little People, Big Dreams - King Charles.
We enjoyed learning about how little Charles became heir to the throne aged just three. It was interesting to learn that he grew up loving nature and dedicating himself to helping people and the planet through environmental activism and charity work. We are very passionate about these things too!

Techno camp came to visit us this morning. We had a great time developing our programming skills and understanding through Scratch games and tasks.
Our outdoor learning session started with a great story, 'Steve Irwin' by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. Steve captured the hearts of people all over the world and inspired viewers to cherish and respect the planet. Inspired by this, we collected natural materials to build bug hotels.

Outdoor Learning 7/5/24
Our outdoor session started with a story in the roundhouse called The Man Who Planted Trees.
We discussed the importance of trees for the environment : provide shelter, shade and habitats; cleaning our air by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen; helps cool the planet; drink up water through the roots and reduce the impact of flooding; source of renewable fuel and so much more.
We enjoyed identifying the trees on our school grounds by observing the leaves and tracking the information in a tally cart.
We’ve also been busy recycling plastic bottles in to plant holders. And, we continue to be very busy developing our garden area by planting flowers and vegetables.

Caring for our environment 🌱
We listened to 'Tidy' by Emily Gravett. It is a simple story about how we can impact on our surroundings and why caring for our environment is vital. Gorgeous, engaging and delivering a powerful message... what more does a book need to be?

Outdoor Learning 23/04/24
We started our outdoor learning session in the roundhouse. We listened to one of the Welsh Wonder stories, ‘Wallace’ by Aneirin Karadog. It’s about Wales’ most important scientist, who led an amazing life and whose discoveries changed the world. Wallace would sketch images of plants and animals, so we decided to sketch images of plants in the school grounds.
We also started to prepare our Glyncollen in Bloom area. It’s starting to take shape!
Thanks for all the kind donations we’ve received so far. Also, thank you to Wendy and Grampa Mike for helping with the area.

Outdoor story - Tisha and the Blossom
Tisha and the Blossom by Wendy Meddour is a beautiful story about taking a moment to enjoy all the little things in life. It generated an interesting discussion and prepared us for our senses walk. We were mindful of what we could see, hear, smell and feel on our walk. It was also fun identifying spring flowers on the school grounds. We found primrose, cow parsley, bluebell, forget-me-not and cuckoo flower! Working in small groups, we created some great poetry using the vocabulary we had collected on our senses walk.
