Autumn 1
Belonging with Beegu
For our first day back in school and in year 4 we explored the wonderful story Beegu by Alexis Deacon and used it as a starting point to think about the importance of belonging. Through class discussions and a collaborative mind map, pupils reflected on how Beegu felt when she was alone, how people treated her, and what helped her feel accepted.
The children shared their own experiences of belonging and discussed the ways we can make others feel welcome, valued and included. Together, we explored what belonging means within our school community and how small acts of kindness can make a big difference to someone's day.
This thoughtful activity helped pupils develop empathy, strengthen their understanding of positive relationships, and recognise that everyone has an important place within our Glyncollen Primary School family.
