Spring 2
This term, we explored how societies are governed, why people fight for freedom, and how individuals—whether medieval Welsh princesses or modern street artists—challenge power. Students investigated different models of leadership and resistance, using Princess Gwenllian’s story as a starting point before widening out to global examples and contemporary political expression. Children wrote poems about their own dreams for the future to submit as entries to our Eisteddfod poetry competition. Additionally, the children wrote some powerful soliloquies in role as Princess Gwenllian and then as a figure from history who has fought for something they believed in. We finished this unit of work by creating our own piece of Banksy-inspired art with one word that summarised this unit.
