Lots of great work going on during morning brain blasts 💡
Caring for our environment 🌱
We listened to 'Tidy' by Emily Gravett. It is a simple story about how we can impact on our surroundings and why caring for our environment is vital. Gorgeous, engaging and delivering a powerful message... what more does a book need to be?
Creativity Boosting - reading and discussing a range of story starters
Talk it, solve it - reasoning skills in maths
Learning maths by doing it and talking about it. Exploring, investigating, challenging, evaluating and actively constructing mathematical meaning 😀
We’ve been learning how transport affects climate change and decorating our bike in preparation for the flower competition
Lots of great work going: life cycle of an acorn; drama; mindfulness; maths
Word Sketching
Cwest Collen- weigh the objects and record your answers on Flip
Outdoor Learning 23/04/24
We started our outdoor learning session in the roundhouse. We listened to one of the Welsh Wonder stories, ‘Wallace’ by Aneirin Karadog. It’s about Wales’ most important scientist, who led an amazing life and whose discoveries changed the world. Wallace would sketch images of plants and animals, so we decided to sketch images of plants in the school grounds.
We also started to prepare our Glyncollen in Bloom area. It’s starting to take shape!
Thanks for all the kind donations we’ve received so far. Also, thank you to Wendy and Grampa Mike for helping with the area.
Developing our understanding of living things: dissecting a tulip; learning scientific vocabulary to label the parts of a flower; explaining the roles of each part
Enjoying lots of mindful activities as part of our Health & Well-being Cwest this week
Making an Earth Day Pledge
Figurative Language - our class novel is filled with rich figurative language. We’ve really enjoyed discussing this. We’ve worked together to identify and highlight these examples
Let’s Think Through Maths - creating their own scale to divide and multiply by fractions and using a ruler to measure objects in the classroom
Thank you to Matab and Ayden for talking to us all about their experience of Ramadan and Eid ul Fitr
Mawrth Mentro Mas
Outdoor story - Tisha and the Blossom
Tisha and the Blossom by Wendy Meddour is a beautiful story about taking a moment to enjoy all the little things in life. It generated an interesting discussion and prepared us for our senses walk. We were mindful of what we could see, hear, smell and feel on our walk. It was also fun identifying spring flowers on the school grounds. We found primrose, cow parsley, bluebell, forget-me-not and cuckoo flower! Working in small groups, we created some great poetry using the vocabulary we had collected on our senses walk.
